Course Outline

This is Module 2 of the Mindfulness in the Classroom program.

If you are interested in only Yoga and Meditation, this module can be done on its own.

The purpose of yoga is to create strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body.The link to the body is the breath hence breathing techniques are used together with postures or asanas. In short, yoga is a system of physical exercises or postures (called asanas). These asanas build strength, flexibility and confidence. Yoga is also about breathing (called pranayama), which helps calm and refresh the body and mind. Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves.

In this course you will learn to:
Understand the concepts of Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness
Understand the age development of children
Understand different emotional behaviours by age
Understand the 4 levels of a child’s being
Understand Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras
Understand various Mantras and their purpose
Understand various Mudras and their purpose
Understand Pranayamas and their purpose
Facilitate various yoga postures and routines
Facilitate yoga games
